Courses overview and application

Cours­es for­mat: The course cur­ricu­lum includes short cours­es which offer a high degree of flex­i­bil­i­ty in terms of time allo­ca­tion, learn­ing modal­i­ty, loca­tion and con­tent. This allows par­tic­i­pants to choose: take an indi­vid­ual short course, take more than one short course, or com­plete a pack­age of cours­es to a Cer­tifi­cate in Social Pro­tec­tion. The cours­es have all been designed and will be imple­ment­ed by both aca­d­e­m­ic and pro­fes­sion­al insti­tu­tions in the field of social pro­tec­tion and aim to bring togeth­er and strength­en the­o­ry, prac­tice and man­age­ment exper­tise across the field of social pro­tec­tion while link­ing each area with oth­er rel­e­vant sec­tors and poli­cies. The pack­age of cours­es includes e-Learn­ing cours­es and face- to- face cours­es and requires a min­i­mum of 3.5 months to com­plete, in total.

Certificate in Social Protection:

When apply­ing for our Cer­tifi­cate in Social Pro­tec­tion can­di­dates are request­ed to sub­mit a let­ter of moti­va­tion with their appli­ca­tion form.

For achieve­ment of the Cer­tifi­cate in Social Pro­tec­tion, par­tic­i­pants need to com­plete all cours­es and their asso­ci­at­ed require­ments for ONE of the three pack­age options list­ed below. The fastest time for cours­es com­ple­tion is 3,5 months. Each par­tic­i­pant will have max­i­mum two cal­en­dar years, from the com­mence­ment of their first course (either e-learn­ing or face-to-face), to com­plete the pack­age they choose.

*Note: All cours­es list­ed below are avail­able to eli­gi­ble par­tic­i­pants who are enrolled in the Pro­gramme – each course can be tak­en indi­vid­u­al­ly or as part of the cer­tifi­cate pro­gramme.

Required Cours­es for achiev­ing the Cer­tifi­cate on Social Pro­tec­tion are:

           1. E-Learn­ing cours­es (TOTAL ECTS: 7.5):

Manda­to­ry Cours­es:

Course A1: Intro­duc­tion to Social Pro­tec­tion: A Sys­tems Approach to Uni­ver­sal Social Pro­tec­tion (ECTS 2.0) + par­tic­i­pants’ choice of any oth­er online cours­es offered by the pro­gram amount­ing to a total of 5,5 ECTS.

*Note: 7.5 ECTS have to be earned through online/ e-learn­ing cours­es to achieve the cer­tifi­cate

*Note: If par­tic­i­pants want to take cours­es amount­ing to more than 7.5 ECTS dur­ing the pro­gramme, extra course fees will apply. 

2. Face-to-Face cours­es (TOTAL ECTS: 7.5):

Manda­to­ry Cours­es:

1.       Course B1: Intro­duc­tion to Social Pro­tec­tion Gov­er­nance in Social Pro­tec­tion (in coop­er­a­tion with AOK Con­sult­ing)

2.       Course B2: Busi­ness Admin­is­tra­tion in Social Pro­tec­tion

3.       Course B3: Con­trol­ling in Pen­sion sys­tems (in coop­er­a­tion with the Ger­man Pen­sion Fund)

4.       Course B4: Con­trol­ling in health insur­ance (in coop­er­a­tion with AOK Con­sult­ing)

5.       Course B5: Mon­i­tor­ing and Eval­u­a­tion of Social Pro­tec­tion Sys­tems (in coop­er­a­tion with Maas­tricht Grad­u­ate School of Gov­er­nance / UNU-MERIT (Maas­tricht Uni­ver­si­ty))

Descrip­tion of Blend­ed-Learn­ing Pack­ages:

Each of the three pack­age options will amount to a total of 15 ECTS points. Each par­tic­i­pant must choose one pack­age out of the three pack­age options.  The pack­age cho­sen by the par­tic­i­pant must be com­plet­ed to earn the cer­tifi­cate.

Fees for the Cer­tifi­cate in Social Pro­tec­tion can be paid in one or two instal­ments, for your con­ve­nience. If choice of two instal­ments is made, then pay­ments are due:

  1. At reg­is­tra­tion for the pro­gramme
  2. 3 months after ini­tial pro­gramme reg­is­tra­tion
